Las Vegas Concours

By Meredith Jaffe

The Las Vegas Concours d’Elegance featuring the Helene Awards was held October 21-24, 2021. Over 100 exquisite automobiles graced the field of the Aviators’ newly constructed baseball stadium. With the ballpark boasting the largest video board in the minor league, interviews with exhibitors and the finer details of the cars presented could be broadcast to attendees.

As I particularly enjoy Studebaker sitings, I was pleased that the following received recognition. Danny Clark’s 1960 Lark won third in its class.

Lawrence Ungaro took Best in Class (American Postwar Oddities through 1977)
with his 1962 GT Hawk.

The Best of Show Pre-War award went to Michael Sullivan’s 1936 Packard Gentlemen’s Tailback Speedster. Likewise, Michael Hammer’s 1963 Rolls Royce Silver Cloud III won the Best of Show Post-War Award.

It should also be noted that our very own AACA GNYR MEMBER, Constance Smith,
received the prestigious Helene Award for her “promotion of Education in the Automotive Industry.” She has brought the award’s namesake Helene Rother to public recognition with her diligent and comprehensive research.
