A Line of Cars on Bar Beach

A Line of Cars on Bar Beach

The morning of August 25th began with a cool, cloudless blue sky, the start of a wonderful day at the beach.

One by one, beautiful vintage automobiles assembled on the boardwalk of the old bar Beach, in Port Washington, Long Island. A beautiful sight on a wonderful day. A total of 41 vehicles dating from 1909 through the mid 1980’s drew crowds of senior citizens as they admired each vehicle with rich memories of America’s automotive past.

This unique meet was the 4th annual show jointly sponsored by the Queens County Region of the Vintage Chevrolet Club of America and the Town of North Hempstead.

In addition to the cars and beach, a special salute to the veterans of the armed forces, complete with a color guard representing each military division of service, the singing of the Star Spangled Banner and the songs of each military division filled the air.

Live, happy and uplifting music played by a group with their banjos, guitars and bass, provided fun for all with live dancing and song.

The Town of North Hempstead, in appreciation for the magnificent display of vintage vehicles, provided all of the food and drink (and it was delicious!). A beautiful plaque and goodie bag was given to each driver, commemorating the day. There was no registration fee! WOW!

This was a truly wonderful day! Special thanks and sincere appreciation to the Queens County Region of the VCCA and the Town of North Hempstead for this “Fun-Day” Monday!!!
