Great Cars On Long Island

Without a doubt, the most famous collection on Long Island was that of Henry Austin Clark, Jr., who owned “fabulous” collector cars on display at his museum in Southampton, LI. By far the #1 group of old cars for our area.

Phil Wichard, of Glen Cove has a large collection of cars (classics), all fully restored, like his 1931 Rolls Royce Phantom II Cabriolet with body by Inskip. Phil also had a “one of kind” 1931 Pierce Arrow coupe from a special Waldorf-Astoria auto show, that featured “LeBaron” custom bodies.

Other Long Island cars were a 1927 Isotta-Fraschini #8A Roadster, with a Fleetwood body. Club member Joe Wider had a 1927 Hispano-Suiza Cabriolet with a Hibbard & Darin body. Don Gilbert owned a rare 1931 Pierce-Arrow #72 Convertible coupe and a 1931 Cadillac A/W Phaeton, one of three built. I had a rare 1934 Packard “LeBaron” Coupe, also one of three built.
